WKU's Top 5 Impact Players on Offense: #1 RB Antonio Andrews

The Hilltoppers' utility man will have a busy 2012 taking the reigns at starting running back.

As I'm sure you've already heard (dozens of times by now) the great Bobby Rainey has departed.

If my math is efficient, that will be 49% of WKU's offensive production missing from last season.

Now, national experts will tell you the offense will struggle this season, but they don't know the skill set of Antonio Andrews.

While Rainey was chewing up yardage and getting a huge bulk of the carries, Andrews was busy returning kicks, playing receiver, and running some wildcat.

In 2010 he burst on the scene with 429 all-purpose yards and followed that up with an even better 590 all-purpose performance last year.

There was an open competition for the starting running back job heading into spring practice involving Andrews and Keshawn Simpson.  Was, being the key word.

After a 18 carry, 123 yard performance in April's spring game one thing is for sure, Andrews is clearly in the driver's seat.

  1. He's not that fast...or at least this video is not a good sample of his speed. Spent too much time looking back at the guys chasing him instead of just running.

  2. 1. The player chasing him probably has 4.4 40 speed.
    2. He is being chased down at an angle.
    3. Yes, this video is not a good example of his speed. He was injured last year and was still not 100%
    4. He will be a good one. Why? Because his Offensive line will open holes.
